I really did not want to write this post. I'm generally a very private person when it comes to serious matters. But I think that part of acceptance is being able to talk about it. Plus, this blog is basically our family journal and right now, this is what is happening in our family. Tyler is right now 33 months old. He is generally a very happy kid who loves to be active. He is very affectionate and loves his parents (as in, smothers us with hugs and kisses multiple times a day!). He likes music and swimming and Veggie Tales. Just over a year ago we started to become a little worried about Tyler. At 18 months old, he had stopped making animal noises, pointing to his body parts when asked and had a very short attention span. He didn't like new people at all. His first really distinguishable word was around that time - more . At his 18 month check up with the doctor we expressed a few of our concerns. She told us that Tyler was perfectly normal and healthy and not to worry

Some Excitement!

This year is sure to bring some fun and exciting changes for our family. First, we are so excited to welcome a new member to our family. No, no, no, I'm not pregnant! My little sister Kami is getting married! We've only met Mark a couple times but we've heard such great things about him and obviously if Kami loves him that is good enough for us. We look forward to getting to know him better. Which leads to the next bit of exciting news. I just booked tickets for us to fly to Alberta in March for the wedding. Jeff has a week off of school, which worked out perfectly and I'm going out an extra week early to spend some more time there. We haven't been out there since the beginning of August and I'm excited for the boys to spend some time with all of our Alberta family. Our trip out west also happens to be a convenient time for us to go house shopping. Yep, we're planning on moving back to Alberta probably early this summer. Our house is going up on the mark

“Mommy”

I’d waited 3 years for it. Each new progression has brought new words and phrases but still I never heard it. Then the other night, Jeff went upstairs to put Tyler back to bed for the way-too-many- th time. He came back downstairs with Tyler in his arms, which left me a little confused. Until he prompted Tyler a little and he said that word I had kind of forgotten I was so excited to hear. “Mommy” (even with both syllables!) Jeff said he had been asking for me upstairs. I think I teared up just a little bit. It was a moment that I didn’t expect to be so touching but for some reason it was. What an unexpected little blessing!
